Which advantages can we take to update and improve our instruments, safeness, efficiency, and quality of root canal preparation.
Changes in the instruments for root canal preparation could be summarized in two main fields: 1-the kind of NiTi alloy used to manufacture endodontic mechanical instruments, such as different heat-treatments that change the mechanical properties and fracture resistance of NiTi alloy, and 2-the reciprocating movements, which increase the safety of NiTi instruments. Both of these fields create new perspectives and possibilities in the clinical approach to the root canal shaping procedures.
Although the quality of the tools available is continuously in progress, it is crucial to follow a strict protocol for the use of NiTi instruments. In this way, different operative choices can be made according to the indications of the clinical case minimizing iatrogenic errors.
Learning objectives:
- Become confident with the different characteristics of NiTi endodontic instruments and their clinical applications
- Learn to use Niti instruments in difficult and complex cases
- Understand the main advantages of the various systems defining the areas within which they can bring the greatest benefits to the operator
