Abstract :
The field of periodontal and implant surgery has witnessed significant advancements in recent years, with a growing emphasis on plastic surgery techniques to enhance aesthetic outcomes. Critical considerations surrounding the timing and methodologies employed in plastic periodontal and implant surgery will be discussed.
The first aspect explored is the optimal timing for plastic surgery interventions in periodontal and implant cases. A comprehensive analysis of patient-specific factors, such as soft tissue anatomy, bone, periodontal health, and implant stability, is crucial in determining the appropriate time and type of intervention.
The presentation will focus then on the dynamic interplay between surgical phases, including initial implant placement, soft tissue enhancement, and final restoration, showing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.
Diverse surgical techniques available for plastic periodontal and implant surgery will be discussed, including soft tissue augmentation, mucogingival procedures, and peri-implant plastic surgery. Case presentations will show evidence-based strategies used to achieve optimal outcomes and enhanced aesthetics.
Learning objectives :
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical and physiological aspects of periodontal and peri-implant soft tissues.
- Evaluate the importance of soft tissue management in achieving optimal aesthetic outcomes.
- Identify various soft tissue management techniques in periodontal and implant surgery, applicable to the aesthetic zone.
- Integrate critical thinking skills to assess patient-specific factors influencing soft tissue management decisions in aesthetic dentistry.
- Develop a personalized treatment plan for periodontal and peri-implant soft tissue defects in the aesthetic zone based on individual patient needs.
