Oral Adverse Drug Reactions
This fact sheet is intended to non-oral health professionals. Oral adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are common, often reversible conditions affecting the mouth and face that result from medications. It is crucial for all healthcare professionals, not just oral health specialists, to recognize that oral symptoms such as dry mouth, tooth grinding, mucosal inflammation, gum overgrowth, and lichenoid lesions may stem from medication use rather than disease. This fact sheet outlines common types of oral ADRs, their clinical effects, and the drugs most often associated with them to support better identification and patient care.
