Abstract :
Modern endodontics doesn't end with traditional non-surgical root canal treatment, performed solely on the crown of the tooth. It increasingly requires the physician to possess surgical skills and a broader perspective on the pathological processes affecting the root and surrounding structures. The dynamic development of technology, diagnostics, and procedural techniques is opening up new possibilities for the endodontist in treating difficult cases. The lecture will discuss the indications for microsurgical treatment, its place in comprehensive therapy planning, and the practical aspects of integrating surgery into everyday endodontic practice. It will provide a comprehensive insight into the entire range of procedures, including root apex resection and surgical management of resorption and perforation. Participants will learn why the modern endodontist shouldn't fear the scalpel; on the contrary, they should treat it as a natural extension of their practice, opening the door wide to the entire branch of endodontics known as microsurgical endodontics.
