Explore FDI’s newly launched oral health fact sheets for other healthcare professionals
The fact sheets serve as an educational tool for other healthcare professionals, providing basic knowledge and skills to enable them to include essential oral healthcare services in their routine work.
Most oral diseases are preventable through straightforward, evidence-based interventions. However, there is a shortage of dentists in many parts of the world. To expand access to oral health and to achieve the goal of affordable and accessible healthcare for all, there is a need to engage the wider healthcare workforce for the prevention and control of oral diseases.
A whole team approach is necessary for oral and overall health
By engaging various Health Care Providers (HCPs) in the promotion of oral health, we can significantly expand access to oral care, especially for marginalized and underserved populations.
As part of the Educational Module for Healthcare Professionals project supported by Haleon, FDI is excited to announce the development of 16 fact sheets designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential oral health knowledge and practical skills. By orienting these HCPs to fundamental oral health concepts, we can foster effective interprofessional collaboration and adopt a common risk factor approach, ultimately enhancing the overall health and well-being of our patients.
The first five fact sheets developed as part of this project are now available on the FDI website, with the remaining sheets to be released over the upcoming months. These resources aim to help bridge the gap in oral healthcare and have been endorsed by various health organizations.
Together, we can make a meaningful impact on oral health across communities.
