The FDI Annual World Dental Congress 2016 Poznań took place from 7-10 September 2016 in Poznań, Poland. Capital of Wielkopolska, nestled between Warsaw and Berlin, Poznań welcomed nearly 12,000 delegates in the dental profession from 90 countries. The Congress hosts were FDI Members Polish Dental Society (Polksie Towarzystwo Stomatologiczne) with the support of the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists (Naczelna Izba Lekarska).
FDI 2016 Poznań featured courses in all fields of dentistry and oral health delivered by 141 experts from 30 countries, many with simultaneous interpretation (English to Polish or vice-versa). The Congress also featured hands-on and innovative 'Meet the Expert' sessions, over 800 free communication and poster sessions and special-day courses in German and Ukrainian.
More than 350 exhibitors demonstrated a wide range of products, materials, cutting-edge technology and high-end services in over 5000 m2 of exhibition space. FDI's role and activities were on display in a nearly 100 m2 pavilion situated at the crossroads between the four sections of the exhibition.
Over 82% of participants were satisfied and positively impressed with their experience at the Congress, with 83% claiming to come specifically for the scientific sessions. The majority of visitors visited the exhibition, with half spending at least one day to do so, where key players of the dental industry showcased their products. This also included live surgeries, demonstrations, and product launches.
The Scientific Programme featured lectures in English and Polish.
FDI held its traditional World Oral Health Forum entitled Are you ready for amalgam phase-down? How the Minamata Convention impacts your Dental Practice. The sessions were recroded and are available to watch online.
